Public Events in 2001

Traveling deep into Africa, this photographic team of Archeologists met up with a troup of Gorillas. After initial skepticism on both sides, eventually they all became fast friends. When we returned to the USA, the Gorillas insisted on traveling with us to visit our home town. Thus Gorillas In The Rex was born.

Every year Rex is improved in some way. As a result its weight and other vital specs vary over time. Here are some numbers for this year.

• Riders: 4. That's 2 pilots plus 2 passengers. All recumbent.
• Number of gears: 54 per pilot. Independent drive on each wheel.
• Front wheel drive on two wheels. Rear steer on one wheel.
• Top speed down a hill: 25 MPH.
• Top speed in water: greater than 4 MPH using 14 inch propeller.
• Height: 9 ft. Width: 6 ft. Length: 13 ft. All with decorations.
• Weight: 440 lbs with all gear but without pilots.
• Lights: 2 headlights, 3 taillights.
• Instruments: Speedometer, odometer, clock, compass, thermometer, CB radio, cassette AM-FM stereo.
• All-terrain: road, mud, sand. Amphibious. Human powered.
