We like to give rides on KangaRex, but it's pretty tiring in sand gear. But we can still let kids sit in the seats. The boy in the back seat is Steve, our Barnacle for the race. Here he has the honor of being the first Barnacle in the Klamath Falls race history. 3629750 |

At an early race the officials noticed children liked to play in the sand pit. Someone got the idea to encourage them to go out an smooth it out between each competitor. What a wonderful idea! The kids love it. Its fun to watch. And it is good for the race. 3406723 |

The big wheeled KSRs such as Tomate [left], That Was Easy [right] and Patriot Act [far right] have no trouble making it thru the sand and mud. |

Barbie struggled in the sand, not because of her wheels. Instead she seemed to lack the low gears needed to climb the bumps. Instead they tried to turn the wheels by walking on them. 4979583 |

| The mud was extremely challenging. Only the large diameter wheels such as Tomate made it thru, and even some of the big wheels didn't. | Here the Little Bee That Could is stuck like a fly on flypaper. |
|
KangaRex was also stopped by the mud. [Not shown] |

Traditionally we take Rex out onto the lake on the morning after the race. Anybody who is still around is welcome to take a ride.
This year I had projected that we would be short-handed at the DaVinci Days race. So I took the opportunity to train any potential pilots on the finer points of Rex water conversions.
No kangaroos were harmed making this Kinetic Sculpture Racer.
