Science Factory
The Science Factory is a small science museum in Eugene, Oregon.
They have a bike parade and festival every year.
Evidently this has been happening for 4 years.
But this year was the first we had heard of it.
Happily, Dave and I were able to open up that day.
There was a parade.
That wasn't much. Just a jaunt around the parking lot.
And the audience consisted of parents of the children in the parade.
But the event was a big success for us because they let us give
rides.
Even better, there was a pond nearby where we could demonstrate
that our vehicles are amphibious.
And wonder of wonders, we were allowed to give rides around the pond.
As long as this continues, we will be back each year!

In the parade we see Dave in KangaRex, Laura on a Whymcycle, and a three wheel Unicycle. We recruited a local and his kids to ride with Dave in KangaRex in the parade. I rode the Spinner. Sorry, no pictures of that; I was holding the camera.

After the parade, The 'Sprok-etts', a dance group from Portland, entertained us.
We then got the Spinner and KangaRex ready to float in the pond. A young boy we met there was very helpful about pumping pontoons.

The pond was small, barely big enough for KangaRex to get up to speed. But I suppose that we good because it meant we were never out of sight of our audience. [pictures by Dave Neiman]

Some of the children who rode around the pond then helped deflate the pontoons. I must say that the children we meet on this trip were unusually nice and helpful. It was a pleasure to be there.
There were a lot more rides than I am showing here. I need a team photographer!
