Q: Time Rex has a fusion power generator. Why is it pedal powered?

A: At first glance this appears illogical. But we are confident that you agree that this was the right decision once you understand the three reasons we made that choice: weight, cost and reliability.

Inertial compression fusion power generators produce power in extremely short pulses. This power is generated in the form of radiation rather than electricity. While this works extremely well for time travel, it is not useful for driving motors. For that purpose power conversion to electricity and power storage would have to have been included. That additional hardware would have added about 50kg to the mass of the vehicle. And the additional cost would not have been consistent with the Time Rex design objective: providing inexpensive time travel for the average person.

Careful study of the history of fusion power over the past 120 years shows that 97% of the breakdowns have occured in the power conversion and storage. By eliminating those systems, Time Rex reliability was kept near the top of the industry.

Q: What are the chances of a system breakdown?

A: There are no known cases of a hardware system breakdown that was not repairable in the field.

Time Rex units have made a total of 1200 jumps covering 1.7 million years. Only three of those jumps did not return. Two of the failing jump crews were found on investigation to have met with foul play at their destination. The time travel units were found to have no damage. Only one jump crew and vehicle were never found. Federal investigators suspected that crew mistakenly set the controls to jump into earth orbit.

As you can see, traveling on Time Rex is safer than traveling with your private hovercraft.

Q: I don't have the aptitude to repair equipment. What should I do?

A: We offer a training program to ensure that any traveler can make simple time travel repairs. Time Rex is designed to be simple so it can be repaired in the field in the unlikely event that should become necessary.

If you find it necessary to travel without having taken this course, we recommend that at least one member of your time travel group have this training.

Q: How many people can I carry on a Time Rex?

A: The basic model carries two pilots. We also offer seats to allow your Time Rex to carry up to two additional passengers.
